How Do We Know Michael's The Guy?

Who has he worked with? Eric Clapton was pleased with Michael’s work. It went well with Snoop Dog and Joss Stone.

It’s not exactly like you’re taking a chance with a rookie, is it? Whether you’re making your first single or recording a bonus track for your band’s Greatest Hits collection, Michael Woodrum has handled others as amazing as you. Go for it. Here are some who did.

Joss Stone

Joss is a singer with natural soul. Michael has had the pleasure of working with this Grammy-winner a few times.

"Every time it's magical."

The Well Pennies

Sarah and Bryan Vanderpool venture into the land of pop without tarnishing their folky roots. Thoughtful, clever lyrics paired with upbeat melodies and tight harmonies. The EP has a natural and relaxed pace which delivers a refreshing and heartfelt result.

“The recording process was the coolest few weeks of our lives. We got to record with Michael Woodrum at this beautiful studio with every toy imaginable. We’ve never worked with anyone so willing to experiment and explore different musical ideas. The studio was such a creative stimulating environment instead of a sterile music lab. We would throw out some crazy idea and Michael would be like “ok, let’s try it!” He was the perfect fit for us."

Parthenon Huxley has written four Top 20 singles, earned three separate Album of the Year Awards from press and fans and toured the world as guitarist and singer for The Orchestra (latter day ELO). Hux first reached out to Michael to record a single track on his eighth album, Kiss The Monster. He was so happy to discover Michael's talent that he moved half of Kiss The Monster's production to SoundMoves. When Hux was ready for his next record, he brought Michael in as co-producer and together they knocked the entire album out from start to finish, basic tracks to mastering.

“Michael's awesome. He's fast. He gets great sounds. He knows what I want as soon as I think it. There's no waiting around or wasting time. When I'm at the mic he's got a headphone-mix ready and off we go. When I have an idea for a guitar part that might require wiggle, fuzz, delay and compression, he finds it for me quickly and boom, it's done. He's good. I ask for a lot and I actually get more, because I trust his opinion and his ideas, too."

The Show Ponies

Each member of The Show Ponies is a talented musician. They are a band in the true sense of the word - supporting each other - more than a band, they're a family. Great vocals, harmonies, musicianship, and all-around great people -  this band is a pleasure to work with.

"Michael has created an environment that allows musicians to function at the highest levels of creativity. When we stepped into his studio, we immediately felt at home and at the same time ready to work. His studio proved to be perfectly set up for just that. He brings a lot of great qualities to an engineers role, and we are really grateful for the opportunity to have worked with him. As a bonus, he's a great person who you'll genuinely like hanging out with. Glad to not only have worked with him and benefited from his musical wisdom, but to now also call him friend."

Calico The Band

“Writing, producing and collaborating with Calico was a breeze,” says Michael, “they’re such amazing talent.” The studio was alive with musicians and a wonderful energy. It shines through in their songs.

Working with Michael is like working with a kindred soul. We set out to do something different and beautiful and were never met with any resistance while in the studio with him. He has an ability to discern what an artist is trying to convey and uncover their vision. Beside being a pioneer and expert at pro tools, he has fabulous gear and a wealth of great ideas. We would recommend Michael to artists of any genre."
